A Wonderland of Rivers and Forests

Return to the River of Life

After great anticipation, then much supplication, we dodged

a forecast of rain and storms.

A window of time, a window of the fairest  weather,

opened up in the heavens…And

Down to the river, we did go

launch canoe

the first day of June, just past noon,

we launched our canoe to once again renew,

our vows to the river, all the life it delivers…

To answer the call of the natural world…

As we shoved off the bank, a Bull Frog started humming,

Bull Frog

Bull Frog

and a Cricket Frog began  clicking.

A welcoming committee, only fitting, it’s been four years

since we floated this river in mid to late Spring.

Inclement weather and major flooding, some of it

historic, canceled many trips.

So off we go, into the flow

starting down the Big Piney River, MO

Big Piney River, make it so…

Gliding down stream…

clear waters over stones

Clear waters over rock, alchemized with sun,

the perfect elixir of life

This vision on the river always calls me back…

– to be continued…

This really makes me want to visit this gem of a river! Beautiful photo and love the lyrical poetry that goes with it!
